The scope of the review includes: the vertical and lateral forces determining the load capacity and stability of motion of HTSC MLT; the friction of aerodynamic and electromagnetic nature in vacuum determining the maximal speed of MLT; the gravitational acceleration/breaking principal, useful for low speed local MLT; the problem of the thermal stability of the cryogenic systems needed for high speed vacuum HTSC-based MLT, and acceleration/breaking and recuperation by linear synchronous superconducting motor for high speed vacuum MLT. The preliminary experimental results and future works are discussed.
