Level 2 historic building recording documents architectural features in Warwickshire ahead of demolition, highlighting historical significance.
Level 2 historic building recording was undertaken ahead of demolition of farm buildings at Lyons Farm, Rowington Green, Warwickshire. The work was carried out in accordance with Understanding Historic Buildings: A Guide to Good Recording Practice (Historic England 2016) and the Standard and Guidance for Archaeological Investigation and Recording of Standing Buildings or Structures (CIfA 2020). Lyons Farm farmhouse has timber-framed elements that are probably of 17th-century date and a house is shown at this location on an estate map of 1699. Two of the buildings to be demolished are brick buildings, the footprints of which are shown on the Tithe map of 1847, although one of these, the milking parlour, is a 20th-century rebuild on an historic footprint. The other extant brick building appears to have been constructed as a shelter shed, the open fronting of which had been largely filled in as the building was converted to stabling in the 20th-century.
