An archaeological watching brief uncovers the absence of features during groundworks at Tomatin Distillery, suggesting minimal archaeological impact.
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken during all topsoil excavation works in the initial phases of the groundworks. The monitored area was approximately 13,900 m2 in total. An archaeologist supervised all digging by mechanical excavator which was fitted with a c.2m-wide straight-edged bucket in order to establish the presence or absence of archaeological remains within the site. No archaeological features were present within the watching brief area. Due to the absence of archaeological features, no further archaeological mitigation is recommended.
