Abstract A new stabilization concept for triarylmethyl species was demonstrated through electronic coupling with a triarylmethylium unit via conjugation. The resulting dibenzoa, jperylene radical cation was successfully isolated as a stable salt, showing reversible interconversion with its neutral form. DFT and spectroscopic analyses revealed delocalized spin distribution and strong NIR absorption up to 1250 nm, establishing this system as a promising NIR electrochromic material.
