Abstract: Collaborative pianists build their careers around partnerships, and relationships with singers are uniquely rewarding. Nevertheless, the parameters that shape a singer-pianist duo also contain obstacles. In October 2025, the Collabfest conference at the International Keyboard Collaborative Arts Society (IKCAS) included a roundtable conversation with Alison d’Amato, Midori Koga, and Ana María Otamendi on the rewards and challenges that exist for pianists and partners seeking to maintain ensembles in the long term. This column shares those observations about the landscape of voice–piano collaborations and considers their challenges in order to uplift and celebrate those partnerships.
