Myocarditis, characterized by inflammation of the myocardium and subsequent injury of cardiac function, has garnered increasing attention among the young and middle-aged population in Asia. Its epidemiology is influenced by a combination of environmental factors, genetic predisposition, and socioeconomic status. Global disease burden analyses indicate that the prevalence of myocarditis varies by region, with certain areas in Asia reporting higher rates. However, the true burden is likely underestimated due to clinical underdiagnosis and inadequate health surveillance. Regarding prognosis, most acute cases may recover, but persistent subclinical abnormalities often remain. Notably, the most severe form, fulminant myocarditis, is associated with a high in-hospital mortality rate when treated conventionally. Nevertheless, early implementation of a life support-based treatment can significantly improve outcomes. This review focuses on summarizing the epidemiology of myocarditis in the young and middle-aged Asian population, aiming to provide a theoretical foundation for enhancing the management of myocarditis in this demographic in the future.
