Teacher is a continuous learner, and fulfilling personalised learning need has become the work of contemporary technological world. Now modern technology, like, Artificial Intelligence (AI) are supporting personalised learning and finding answers to all our queries. Considering the popularity and usage of AI in education field, an attempt has been made to find out its significant role in professional development (PD) of teachers. The systematic literature review (SLR) following PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis technique) was applied in this study. The findings revealed three themes: usage of AI, its benefits, and challenges. Teacher utilized the AI technologies for the purposes of generating teaching-learning materials, planning the lesson, assessment, getting ideas for curriculum designing and research. Several benefits they also realized during their usage, such as, personalized learning, saving time, enhancing engagement, motivation, improving teaching methods, and boosting creative as well as critical thinking. On the other hand, excessive overreliance, unavailability of technological infrastructure, lack of AI literacy, ethical concerns, and deterioration of creative as well as critical thinking are emerging challenges associated with the AI usage for teachers PD.
