Shows improved alkylarylation methods in organic chemistry, suggesting enhanced synthesis efficiency.
Herein, we present an efficient method for the 1,2-alkylarylation of alkenes, facilitating the formation of all-carbon quaternary carbon centers via a copper-mediated radical Truce-Smiles rearrangement. This approach utilizes alkyl iodides as radical coupling electrophiles, effectively circumventing β-hydride elimination under mild basic conditions and mitigating the influence of steric hindrance through intramolecular radical-induced aromatic migration during quaternary carbon center formation. A wide variety of alkyl iodides and alkenes, containing multiple functional groups, have been shown to be compatible with this method, yielding products with good yields.
