Asynchronous transmural hyperaemia may underestimate vasodilator reserve in testing; leaves open human validation of perfusion dynamics.
The study demonstrates that asynchronous transmural perfusion during coronary reactive hyperaemia is responsible for the prolonged plateau at peak flow and may lead to underestimates of vasodilator capability.
Downey et al. (1983) studied this question.
