A new method for measuring the electrical conductivity of magnetic fluids based on liquid dielectrics is proposed. This method involves measuring the characteristic Maxwell–Wagner relaxation times in a cell with an electrode coated with a solid insulating film. The electro-optical effect of birefringence in a high-voltage rectangular pulse field was used to determine the relaxation time of the electric field in the system.
