Study synthesizes and characterizes Ni(II) complexes in a novel chemical context, suggesting new pathways for complex design.
Ni(II) complexes bearing a chelating pyridyl non-stabilized phosphonium ylide ligand were synthesized and fully characterized. Dependent on the denticity of the pre-ligand used, either a homoleptic Ni complex adopting a cis-ylide configuration or a Ni pincer-type complex was obtained. The latter constitutes an unprecedented stable P-ylide Ni(II) complex featuring a Ni–Cl bond and characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis.
