Descriptive correlational study assesses health care team awareness of case management, indicating the need for improved training.
Background Case management is a key patient care delivery model that ensures coordinated, cost-effective, and patient-centered care. Its success depends on the health care team’s awareness and collaboration for enhancing care quality and optimizing patient outcomes. Aim This study aimed to assess the awareness of the health care team about case management as a patient care delivery model at a selected hospital. Design A descriptive correlational research design was utilized to carry out the study. Setting The current study was conducted at a military medical complex. Patients A convenient sample of 320 health care team members who are working in the study setting at the time of data collection constituted the study sample. Also, they were distributed as follows: baccalaureate nurses (90), physicians (185), and pharmacists (45). Tools for data collection Two tools were used as: first tool personal data sheet, second tool: case management questionnaire. Results More than three-quarters of health care teams (nurses, physicians, and pharmacists) had high levels of awareness about case management. Conclusion There were significant correlations between all dimensions of case management awareness. Recommendations Implement regular in-service training and workshops for all health care staff. Conduct follow-up research to explore the barriers to full implementation of case management.
