Key result
hs-cTnT and hs-cTnI are widely detectable in the general population but only weakly correlated.
Why the study?
How do high-sensitivity cardiac troponin T and I compare in their distribution and association with cardiovascular risk factors in a general population?

Weak hs-cTnT/hs-cTnI correlation suggests assay-specific thresholds; leaves open comparative prognostic value in primary prevention.
Cohort (n=19,501)
How do high-sensitivity cardiac troponin T and I compare in their distribution and association with cardiovascular risk factors in a general population?
Absolute Event Rate: 53.3% vs 74.8%
In the general population, cTnT and cTnI are weakly correlated and differentially associated with cardiovascular risk factors, and the currently used 99th centiles may not be appropriate for individuals over 60 years of age.
Welsh et al. (2018) conducted a cohort in General population (n=19,501). High-sensitivity cardiac troponin T (cTnT) vs. High-sensitivity cardiac troponin I (cTnI) was evaluated on Detectable concentrations and correlation between cTnT and cTnI. High-sensitivity cTnT and cTnI concentrations were detectable in 53.3% and 74.8% of the general population, respectively, and were only weakly correlated after adjusting for age and sex (R2 = 9.5%).
