Immunological and Regulatory Basis of the 30-Day Post-Primary Rabies Vaccination Interval Prior to Serology Sampling

Objective. To analyze the immunological and regulatory basis of the 30-day interval between primaryrabies vaccination and virus-neutralizing antibody testing in dogs and cats intended for international travel.Method. Technical review of rabies virus-neutralizing antibody (rVNA) kinetics, RFFIT and FAVN protocols,and the regulatory frameworks of major destination countries. Results. The 30-day window corresponds tothe minimum period for the primary humoral response to reach the 0.5 IU/mL threshold required byOIE/USDA standards. Non-compliance invalidates the serology result regardless of the titre obtained.Conclusion. Strict adherence to this temporal window is decisive for the documentary validity of the exportfile and the animal's admission at destination.
