Key result
Surgical aneurysmectomy and valve repair of an 18-year-old left ventricular aneurysm improves LVEF by ~10%.
Why the study?
Most left ventricular aneurysms are asymptomatic, and late complications from them are infrequently reported.

Case Report (n=1)
Surgical repair of a late-presenting, expanding true left ventricular aneurysm can successfully improve ejection fraction and quality of life in patients with refractory symptoms.
Kong et al. (2021) conducted a case report in True left ventricular aneurysm (n=1). Surgical mitral valve repair, aneurysmectomy, and pericardial patching was evaluated. Surgical mitral valve repair, aneurysmectomy, and pericardial patching successfully treated an expanding 18-year-old true left ventricular aneurysm, improving ejection fraction from 30-35% to 40-45%.
