Abstract Major orthopedic implants used in day-to-day hip cases are manufactured and designed based on rephrasing on the Western population. As compare to the Western population, Indian dimensions are different. Objective: The research done to calculate the neck shaft angle (NSA) of the Indian population for to evaluate, planning, prepare, and preoperative implant selection. Materials and Methods: The study type retrospective study involving measurement of NSA on the plain radiograph of the pelvis with both hips in the anterior–posterior view of a normal patient. Results: In this study, around 420 males and 390 females, a total 810 patients were analyzed. The NSA in the Indian population averages 131.61° ± 5.4°, with mean NSA measuring 131.53° ± 4.72°for left side and 131.53° ± 4.72° for the right side. In adult male mean value of NSA is 130.61° ± 5.52°, and in adult female mean NSA is 128.86° ± 6.31°. Conclusion: The mean neck shaft angle in the Indian population was found to be higher compared to Western data. Knowledge of these values may help in better preoperative planning, implant selection, and prosthesis design for Indian patients.
