CMR is a valuable imaging modality for evaluating the cardiovascular system in athletes and exercising individuals.
With numerous cardiovascular imaging modalities today, it is important that physicians understand the advantages/disadvantages and the complementary/overlapping abilities of each technique and apply them appropriately. Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) has been in use for more than 25 yr, and leaps in technology have made this form of imaging a robust, highly accurate technique to evaluate the cardiovascular system. Appropriate application of this technology can aid in the management and care of individuals exercising and participating in sports.
