Supports progression to pediatric trials; extends immunogenicity data for parenteral rotavirus vaccines.
Fix et al. (2015) conducted an RCT in Healthy adults (Rotavirus gastroenteritis prevention) (n=48). P2-VP8 subunit vaccine vs. Placebo was evaluated on Safety and immunogenicity (IgG, IgA, and neutralizing antibodies). The P2-VP8 subunit vaccine was well-tolerated and elicited significant immune responses, with a 70- and 80-fold rise in geometric mean titers for IgA and IgG respectively in the 60 μg cohort.
