Why the study?
Variation in f-wave frequency over time is suggested to relate to respiratory autonomic modulation, prompting evaluation of whether it is linked to acetylcholine release patterns.
Does acetylcholine release pattern modulate f-wave frequency in atrial fibrillation?
Does acetylcholine release pattern modulate f-wave frequency in atrial fibrillation?
Acetylcholine patterns may modulate AF f-wave frequency; leaves open therapeutic targeting pending validation.
The frequency of fibrillatory waves (f-waves), F f , exhibits significant variation over time, and previous studies suggest that some of this variation is related to respiratory modulation through the autonomic nervous system. In this study, we tested the hypothesis that this variation (F f ) could be related to acetylcholine concentration ([ACh]) release pattern.
