Administered an adapted Teachers' Sense of Efficacy Scale for Arts Education survey via convenience sampling to early childhood educators across Queensland in 2010 (N=21; response rate: 27%).
Assessed perceived competence across five arts strands (dance, drama, media, visual arts, and music) versus maths and English, alongside weekly hours taught per strand.
All respondents reported greater perceived competence for teaching mathematics and English relative to any of the five arts strands.
Several educators reported completely omitting specific arts strands, particularly drama, dance, and media, from their daily classroom practice.
