Level 1-2 historic building recording documents architectural history prior to demolition for housing.
In July 2021 Granta Heritage carried out Level 1-2 Historic Building Recording at 51 - 57 Church Lane, Bocking, Braintree, Essex, prior to their demolition in advance of the construction of 19 homes on land to the rear. The survey found evidence, both in the building, and in documentary sources, that the cottages were built rather earlier than had been thought, most likely a little either side of 1800. They were owned, and probably built, by the Nottidge family, who were involved in Bocking's textile industry, possibly for textile workers, but by 1838 none of the habitants had textile related occupations.
