Archaeological monitoring records groundworks for new residential dwellings, finding no significant activity.
A programme of archaeological monitoring and recording was carried out on the groundworks for two new residential dwellings (Plots 1 and 2). This comprised the mechanical excavation of the foundations for same. T At the time of writing (November 2025), the original monitoring archaeologist has retired. The groundworks for a third residential dwelling remain to be monitored. This archaeological monitoring, which was confined to Plots 1 and 2 on this site, did not identify any significant archaeological activity and there were no significant finds. From the mid 1950s onwards and from the O.S. map regression which was undertaken for this project, a modern steel framed shed or outbuilding had formerly stood on this site. This had been recently demolished. Such findings as were made, which included a section of modern concrete foundations and a slot or possible fence line were recorded. These remains were associated with this former demolished shed. A third residential dwelling remains to be monitored.
