May aid computational modeling of ventricular arrhythmias in animals; leaves open translation to human electrophysiology.
This study presents a novel image-based computational method to create anatomically realistic 3D models of the cardiac Purkinje network, which can be coupled with ventricular models to study normal activation and arrhythmias.
Liu et al. (2015) studied Ventricular arrhythmias (computational modeling). Image-based 3D structural modeling of the Purkinje network was evaluated on Creation of combined ventricle-Purkinje system models capable of simulating ventricular activation. A novel image-based method successfully generated three-dimensional Purkinje network models by projecting structures extracted from dissected ventricle photographs onto realistic endocardial surfaces.
