Shows enhanced furfural yield in biomass conversion, suggesting improved sustainability in biorefineries.
The Front Cover illustrates a facile one-pot hydrothermal strategy that combines renewable biomass with a MIL-101(Cr) precursor to construct hierarchical porous carbon catalysts for the efficient and selective conversion of xylose into high-value furfural. Benefiting from the synergistic effect of MOF templating and biomass hydrothermal carbonization, the biochar catalyst delivers a more than 30% enhancement in furfural yield compared with traditional biomass-based catalysts. The work presented by J. Shao, Z. Lin and co-workers in their Research Article (DOI: 10.1002/cssc.202502250) establishes a green, sustainable route for waste biomass valorization and promotes the development of low-carbon biorefinery systems.
