Abstract

This project aims to conduct a scoping review to map and analyze how the term “enriched environment” has been used in scientific studies involving children aged 0 to 12 years. The concept of environmental enrichment has been applied inconsistently across different fields—ranging from animal models to pediatric health and education—without a clear consensus on its definition, components, or expected outcomes. By systematically identifying the definitions, contexts, related terms, and outcomes associated with enriched environments in studies involving children, this review seeks to clarify how the concept is operationalized and applied in the literature. The review will follow the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) methodology and be reported in accordance with the PRISMA-ScR guidelines.
