Researchers from North America (e.g., Godbey, 1985; McGuire Searle Carroll & Alexandris, 1997). Following Searle and Jackson's (1985) suggestions, the aim of the study was to identify and discuss the implications of these findings for the provision and management of recreational sport services. In order to place the findings in the context of the sport administration system in Greece, a brief introduction about how recreational sports are provided and promoted there is given.
