When I coined the term Industry 6.0 in late 2023, banking was one of the few sectors that already had the digital infrastructure to execute what was coming: an economy where AI agents stop assisting and start operating. Three years later, Industry 6.0 in banking is no longer prospective; it is next year's budget line. In this article I unpack why the Latin American financial system is facing a short, technical window of transformation, which processes are migrating first, what mistakes keep recurring in pilots, and what a bank operating with agents in production (not just in demos) actually looks like. I write this based on what I have been observing in working sessions with CIOs and boards from Buenos Aires to Mexico City.
