AbstractCalifornia institutions granting teaching credentials have been required since 1988 to provide credential candidates with “computer education coursework which includes general and specialized skills in the use of computers in educational settings” (California Education Code). This paper reports a follow-up study of seven teachers enrolled in a course at San Jose State University designed to meet this requirement in order to assess the effect of the course and its content upon their teaching practice. These respondents indicated that they perceived not only that their personal computer skills had increased as a result of the course but that their integration of computers into their instructional practice had been extended by the information they gained.
