Pacemaker interrogation identifies rapid atrial tachyarrhythmias driving acute tachycardia-induced cardiomyopathy.
Case Report (n=1)
Device interrogation is crucial for identifying the underlying mechanisms of new-onset heart failure in paced patients, such as tachycardia-induced cardiomyopathy.
Device interrogation may identify reversible tachycardia-induced cardiomyopathy in paced patients with new HF; leaves open generalizability beyond single cases.
Device interrogation sometime provides useful information about previous arrhythmic events. We describe a patient with atrioventricular (AV) block in whom a pacemaker interrogation found the unpredictable cause of pleural effusion.

Sairaku et al. (2015) conducted a case report in 2:1 atrioventricular block and tachycardia-induced cardiomyopathy (n=1). Pacemaker implantation and interrogation was evaluated. Pacemaker interrogation revealed that rapid atrial tachycardia/fibrillation caused tachycardia-induced cardiomyopathy and decompensated heart failure in a patient with a previously implanted pacemaker for 2:1 AV block.
