An important source of information is the newspaper. It is a repository for knowledge and news. Despite the fact that e-paper is currently popular, people still prefer to read printed newspapers. The most striking quality of a newspaper is that it appeals to all age groups and provides something for everyone. The current study is based on Under-Graduate students' of selected colleges of Tinsukia district, Assam.The survey reveals the extent to which students read newspapers. The core data was gathered using the survey method.This particular study attempts to explore purpose of reading, language preferences and number of newspaper daily read by the students. The paper finds out some of the barriers of newspaper reading among the students and finally concludes with some suggestions how they overcome from these barriers.
