Targeting interatrial connections terminates biatrial flutter in ~75% of patients without mid-term recurrence.
Why the study?
Anteroseptal line ablation for perimitral flutter can lead to biatrial flutter bypassing the line via interatrial connections, requiring better characterization of its diagnosis and management.
Ablation at interatrial connection sites is a potentially effective treatment strategy for biatrial flutter following anteroseptal line ablation, though it can be technically challenging.

May support targeted ablation at interatrial connections for biatrial flutter; leaves open confirmation in larger prospective studies.
Prendiville et al. (2025) studied Biatrial flutter following anteroseptal mitral isthmus line ablation (n=4). Ablation at interatrial connections was evaluated on Termination of biatrial flutter. Ablation at interatrial connection sites successfully terminated biatrial flutter in 3 out of 4 patients, with all patients remaining free of recurrent atrial arrhythmia at 6-12 months follow-up.
