Randomized trial investigates evolutionary pathways in various biological groups, suggesting new perspectives on evolution.
This study proposes an analytical method that combines macroscopic morphological structures such as limbs, skeletons and body appendages with mechanical stress characteristics to trace and reconstruct the evolutionary history of organisms. It enables continuous prediction of long-term evolutionary trends and renders animal evolutionary paths predictable in a way analogous to 3D printing. This paper elaborates on the principles, application conditions and limitations of the method, and conducts falsification tests. To verify its rationality, the main evolutionary lineages of deuterostomes and mollusks are deduced and sorted out with the proposed method, which is further validated by fossil records and ecological evidence of extant organisms. With good universality, this method can be extended to evolutionary traceability research of various biological groups, and provides new perspectives and theoretical evidence for interpreting classic evolutionary phenomena such as convergent evolution.
