Very good group delay performance is reported from a chirped fibre grating delay line when optical single sideband optical modulation is is used. The residual dispersion in the photodetected current introduced by this technique is compensated for by means of a microstrip line length, and an RMS group delay deviation of 2.2ps is achieved.
