The International Marine Organization ambitious greenhouse gas reduction targets for shipping necessitate a rapid transition to zero-emission fuels. This paper addresses this critical need by providing a comparative analysis of promising green fuels for maritime applications. Available alternative fuels were reviewed, with a comparison of the most viable options in terms of environmental impact. Key research on the utilization of these fuels was examined. Additionally, the feasibility of implementing green fuels across different ship types was assessed. By exploring both technical considerations and growth prospects, a valuable resource is offered for stakeholders navigating the transition toward a sustainable maritime future.
