This research analyzes a hadith on knowledge carriers in generations, suggesting implications for intellectual security.
This research examines and analyzes the hadith: “This knowledge will be carried by the trustworthy successors of every generation.” It has been concluded that the hadith is at least of the level of hasan (good), if not sahih (authentic). It was authenticated by Ahmad ibn Hanbal, a leading scholar of hadith criticism, and one of its chains of transmission was authenticated by al-Ala'i. It was also strengthened by a group of imams. This hadith has a great impact on intellectual security, it contains two of the most important features of intellectual security: the first is the presence of just scholars to whom the nation refers in the calamities and problems that befall it, and the second is the role of scholars in uncovering and combating intellectual deviations. The study recommends the necessity of taking care to prepare the bearers of knowledge in an authentic way that combines memorization and jurisprudence.
