Why the study?
With an aging cancer population and increasing cancer incidence, thrombosis in cancer patients is expected to rise, requiring familiarity with the concept and management of cancer-associated thrombosis.
Gynecologic cancers are associated with a high risk of cancer-associated thrombosis, necessitating routine preoperative screening, risk stratification using tools like D-dimer and the Khorana score, and appropriate anticoagulant management.
May support preoperative VTE vigilance in ovarian cancer; leaves open prospective validation of risk thresholds.
