In a representative sample of the adult population in Vancouver, Wash., the younger, the better educated and those with more exposure to mass media showed greater acceptance of social drinking, of alcoholism and of medical and psychological treatment of alcoholism than did the other respondents, and were more likely to attribute alcoholism to psychological than to biological causes.
