Lab-developed iridium-catalyzed method achieves effective N-alkylation in amines using alcohols, indicating practical application potential.
An iridium‑catalyzed method for the direct N ‑alkylation of anilines with benzylic alcohols is reported. The reaction proceeds efficiently under thermal conditions without preactivated alkylating agents, showing high chemoselectivity and broad substrate scope. Effective N ‑alkylation is achieved with low catalyst loading and without an inert atmosphere, providing a practical approach to N ‑alkylated amines.
