Low IGFBP-2 linked to worse cardiometabolic risk and high hepatic fat in asymptomatic individuals.
Why the study?
There is a paucity of reliable clinical etiologic markers for fatty liver.
Are low blood levels of IGFBP-2 associated with a deteriorated cardiometabolic risk profile and high hepatic fat content in asymptomatic individuals?

Low blood levels of IGFBP-2 may serve as a clinical marker for fatty liver and deteriorated cardiometabolic risk in asymptomatic individuals.
Faced with a paucity of reliable clinical etiologic markers for fatty liver, this research article demonstrates, for the first time, that low blood levels of the protein IGFBP-2 are associated with a more deteriorated cardiometabolic risk profile and with a high hepatic fat content independently of visceral fat volume and sex, even in asymptomatic, apparently healthy individuals.

Rauzier et al. (2023) studied this question. Low blood levels of IGFBP-2 are associated with a deteriorated cardiometabolic risk profile and high hepatic fat content independently of visceral fat and sex in asymptomatic individuals.
