A multidisciplinary program of research on the glazed ceramics of the Islamic world up to C. A.D. 1250 has been focused on questions of their dating, provenance and technology. In this paper the typological part of the study of the stonepaste-bodied and glazed wares of Syria made between C. A.D. 1075 and 1250 are reported. Apartfrom presenting available data on the typology and dating of these wares, reference is made to the parallel studies on technology and provenance of these wares. The picture presented is of a dynamic and innovative industry coping with the political problems of the region.
