Investigates dual models for gravitational potential in dark matter, indicating improved accuracy with continuous fields.
This paper investigates the structural mathematical defects inherent in existing discrete models (N-body approximations and spatial grid disk discretizations) that operate as collections of discontinuous elements in gravitational potential calculations of dark matter halos, verified through measured numerical data. We quantify singularity divergence under close particle interactions, mathematical inconsistencies with the Laplace equation, and the artificial disruption of subhalos caused by non-physical numerical heating. Furthermore, we report a resolution framework utilizing a 3D continuous field model to eliminate these bottlenecks. The empirical validation demonstrates that while the discrete models exhibit resolution-dependent amplification of the spatial stress value from 280,472.0 to 283,500.1, leading to a decay in the subhalo survival rate to 1.2%, the continuous field model—which enforces tri-linear interpolation as a preprocessing requirement and applies a 27-degree-of-freedom finite Laplacian operator—successfully neutralizes the spatial stress to 4,605.690928, achieves convergence of the logarithmic slope to -0.48 at the central limit (0.1 kpc) matching the empirical data from the Euclid space telescope, and maintains the subhalo survival rate at 98.2%.
