Research investigates how rotor static eccentricity affects electromagnetic performance in motors, indicating design considerations.
This paper focuses on the design of high-speed permanent magnet generators (HSMPSM) and explores the impact of rotor static eccentricity on the electromagnetic performance of such motors. Key performance indicators under investigation include electromagnetic torque, cogging torque, back electromotive force (EMF), air-gap magnetic flux density, and unbalanced magnetic force (UMF). The research findings indicate that for high-speed permanent magnet synchronous motors, the static eccentricity of the rotor causes an uneven air gap distribution in the motor, which affects the unbalanced magnetic pull force of the motor and leads to increased motor vibration and noise. Static eccentricity will cause the amplitude and phase of the three-phase fundamental counter electromotive force to be out of balance, but it will not change the harmonic components. In addition, static eccentricity has little effect on electromagnetic torque.
