Review unveils the chemistry and future research potential of redox-active guanidines in various fields, indicating significant implications.
Redox‐active guanidines represent compounds with guanidino groups that are stable in at least two different redox states. This unique class of molecules is of significant interest for a variety of research areas, including coordination chemistry, dehydrogenative coupling reactions and other proton‐coupled electron transfer processes, as well as hetero‐Diels–Alder reactions. In this review, the key aspects of their multifaceted chemistry are summarized for the first time. Also, the discussion discloses fields in which future research is likely to render significant progress.
