Randomized trial identifies no impact on historic properties in compliance with Section 106 at Vandenberg Space Force Base, suggesting no historic resources will be affected.
This document is a Section 106 for the proposed 30th Force Support Squadron (30 FSS) Paintball Fields Project. The project would include construction of four 200-foot by 200-foot paintball fields (covering a total of 3.67 acres), spreading gravel for an adjacent parking area, placing a Conex container for use as a concession stand, trenching to extend existing electrical utilities, and tree-trimming along Grant Road to clear encroaching vegetation. The Department of the Air Force (DAF) has determined that the Project is an undertaking subject to compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) of 1966. The DAF is consulting with the California State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO) and the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians (SYBCI). No cultural resources exist within the Project Area of Potential Effect (APE). The DAF presented the following findings and determinations to the SHPO for the purposes of reaching agreement that the APE for the 30 FSS Paintball Fields Project is adequately delineated and the undertaking will have no effect on any known historic properties. The DAF has reached a Section 106 finding of no historic properties affected for this undertaking.
