Characterizes the chloroplast genome of Cyclea hypoglauca, revealing insights into phylogeny and evolution in Menispermaceae.
Cyclea hypoglauca (Schauer) Diels, 1910, is a wild climber of the Menispermaceae family, which has been exploited in traditional medicine for centuries. This study aimed to characterize the chloroplast (cp) genome of C. hypoglauca and to improve understanding of phylogeny and evolution in Menispermaceae. The complete cp genome of C. hypoglauca is 159,596 bp in length and exhibits the typical quadripartite structure. In total, 129 genes were identified, including 84 protein-coding genes, 37 tRNAs, and eight rRNAs. These results provide the first complete cp genome of C. hypoglauca, contributing to comparative genomic and phylogenetic studies of Menispermaceae.
