Randomized trial evaluates archaeological practices in a development area, suggesting modern interference affects findings.
The archaeological evaluation comprised the excavation of 5 trenches, each measuring 30m in length by 1.8m in width, across the proposed development area. The evaluation was undertaken following the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists Standard and Guidance for archaeological field evaluation (2020a), and in accordance with the WA fieldwork manual (2017). No archaeological features or finds were present in any of the trenches; there was however a surviving 0.25m thick layer of peat sealed below subsoil in one trench and a large amount of modern truncation from the 20th century farm buildings that were demolished prior to the start of the archaeological evaluation.
