Prevention of venous thromboembolism after knee arthroscopy with low–molecular weight heparin (Reviparin)

Wirth et al. (2001) conducted an RCT in Elective knee arthroscopy (n=262). Reviparin sodium (low-molecular weight heparin) vs. No treatment was evaluated on Incidence of deep venous thrombosis (DVT) detected by compression color-coded sonography (OR 4.95). Prophylaxis with reviparin after elective knee arthroscopy reduced the incidence of deep venous thrombosis compared with no treatment (0.85% vs 4.1%; OR 4.95).
