Randomized trial demonstrates improved financial inclusion and agricultural productivity among farmers, indicating Fintech's pivotal role.
The rapid advancement of financial technology (Fintech) has significantly transformed the financial landscape, particularly in developing economies like India. This study examines the impact of Fintech adoption on financial inclusion and agricultural productivity among farmers in Karnataka. The primary objective is to understand how digital financial services such as mobile banking, digital payments, and online lending platforms influence farmers’ access to financial resources and their agricultural outcomes. The study is based on primary data collected from 250 farmers using a structured questionnaire, along with supporting secondary data from relevant sources. Descriptive and inferential statistical tools such as percentage analysis, mean, standard deviation, correlation, and regression analysis were used to analyze the data. The findings reveal that a majority of farmers are aware of and actively use Fintech services, particularly UPI and mobile banking, due to their convenience and efficiency. The results indicate that Fintech adoption has significantly improved financial inclusion by enhancing access to banking services, credit, and digital transactions, while reducing dependency on informal financial sources. Furthermore, the study establishes a positive relationship between Fintech usage and agricultural productivity, as farmers are able to access timely financial support, invest in better inputs, and make informed decisions. The correlation and regression analysis confirm that Fintech adoption has a statistically significant impact on both financial inclusion and agricultural productivity. However, challenges such as limited digital literacy, lack of trust, and inadequate infrastructure continue to affect the widespread adoption of Fintech among farmers. The study concludes that Fintech plays a crucial role in empowering farmers and strengthening the agricultural sector. With appropriate policy support, improved digital infrastructure, and increased awareness, Fintech can further enhance financial inclusion and contribute to sustainable agricultural development in Karnataka.
