Systematic examination of Shanghai literature's translation history and cultural exchange in the Arab world, indicating its significance.
This paper systematically examines the translation history, reception mechanisms, and dissemination effects of Shanghai literature in the Arab world. Research indicates that Shanghai literature, leveraging its unique urban cultural characteristics and explorations of modernity, has gradually entered the view of Arab readers through China-Arab official cooperation and academic exchange mechanisms. Its translation has evolved from indirect to direct translation, and from political acceptance to cultural and aesthetic dialogue. However, challenges such as insufficient systematic translation, significant cultural discount, and limited dissemination of contemporary works persist. In the future, we should focus on building a collaborative translation system, enhancing the interpretation of Shanghai literary features, and deepening mutual learning between Chinese and Arab civilizations.
