Survey highlights the job search and acceptance process for first-time faculty, suggesting areas for improvement.
The recruitment, hiring, and retention of first-time accounting faculty is a costly process for the recruiting school and a time-consuming, some- times confusing experience for the candidates. A questionnaire was mailed to a non-random sample of first-time faculty to elicit information on the experiences they had as they went through this process. The information gathered was summarized and is reported herein for the use of first-time faculty candidates, their degree-granting universities, and the recruiting schools.
